Oakland University soccer player garners league honor

Oakland University men's soccer player Joey Tinnion was named the Horizon League's Co-Offensive Player of the Week (along with Laurie Bell of the University of Milwaukee-Wisconsin) for his play against the University of Detroit Mercy Oct. 5. at the OU Soccer Field.
Tinnion scored two second-half goals to help give Oakland a 2-1 victory against the Titans in the two programs' first-ever Horizon League matchup.
After capturing the league honor, Tinnion, who attended high school at Utica Eisenhower, proceeded to score Oakland's lone goal in the Golden Grizzlies' Oct. 7 matchup against the University of Denver, a game that ended in a 1-1 tie. Tinnion leads the Golden Grizzlies (4-2-5) with five goals on the season.
Oakland is next scheduled to be in action at 5 p.m. Oct. 12 in a road game against Wright State University.
