November 07, 2012District round ends season for Lamphere, Madison and Foley; Hazel Park wins opening-round match

Volleyball’s postseason began last week, and at press time, Hazel Park was the only local school still alive.
After drawing a bye in the opening round, the Vikings defeated Ferndale University 3-0 in a semifinal matchup Oct. 31.
Hazel Park faced Warren Fitzgerald Nov. 2, after press time, in a district final at Fitzgerald.
Madison Height’s Bishop Foley’s season came to a close following a 3-1 loss to Auburn Hills Oakland Christian Oct. 31. The Ventures received a bye in the opening round.
Madison Heights Lamphere’s season ended with a 3-0 semifinal district loss to Birmingham-Detroit Country Day Oct. 31 at Clawson High. The Rams drew a bye in the opening round. The Rams walked closed out the regular season with a second consecutive Macomb Area Conference Silver Division title.
Madison Heights Madison also wrapped up its season following a 3-0 loss to Harper Woods in opening-round play Oct. 30.
