Bloomfield HIlls Marian and Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes won their respective Catholic High School League championships Oct. 22 at Madonna University.
Marian beat Farmington Hills Mercy 25-22, 25-14 and 25-8 for their third A-B championship in the last five years, ending the Marlins' streak of two straight.
"When you win three or four in a row, you kind of get used to it, but if you lose two in a row, it's a different feeling when you do win it," Marian coach Irick Gardner said. "It's certainly up there with the other championships we've won."
Lakes beat Bloomfield Hills Sacred Heart 25-19, 25-9 and 25-23, taking its first C-D title since 2001.
