Looking Back: Mae Stecker
Posted February 5, 2014
Mae Stecker Park on 24 Mile Road, just east of the entrance to the Municipal Campus, is named for the township clerk who served from 1961-1974. Here she is in December 1970 swearing in the newly elected township officials: from left, Trustee Harvey Hansen, Treasurer Eugene Eilertson, Trustee Raymond Pini and Supervisor Joseph Boardman. Boardman, a retired Brigadier General, served two terms as supervisor. He started the Shelby Township Library during his tenure. Harvey Hansen was elected supervisor after Boardman and served for eight terms.
