Police were searching for two suspects who attempted to rob the Little Brown Jug party store, 26331 Gratiot Ave., at approximately 9 p.m. Feb. 16.
Police said in a press release that the suspects entered through the front door.
Both suspects wore hoodies, gloves and had their faces covered, police said. One suspect had on a dark-colored hoodie, while the other wore a light-colored hoodie, police said.
The release stated that the suspect wearing the light-colored hoodie “jumped up and stood on the counter and pointed a revolver at one of the employees.”
Police initially believed that a party store employee then discharged one to two rounds, and the robbers fled. In an updated press release Feb. 17, police stated, “The person that discharged the rounds is a friend of the owner of the business and was at the store visiting.”
Police said that the person who discharged the rounds legally possessed the firearm and will not face charges.
The updated release also stated that police do not believe the discharged rounds struck the suspects.
The suspects fled the store and were last seen running through the parking lot heading northwest in the direction of Wildwood Street, just west of Gratiot. The suspect wearing the light-colored hoodie dropped his revolver in the parking lot, police said.
“It is believed the suspects left the area in a vehicle. There is no description of a vehicle at this time,” the release stated.
Police are unaware if the suspect in the dark-colored hoodie had a firearm.
The Roseville Police Department put a video on YouTube of the robbery.
Police have asked the public for help to identify the suspects. Anyone with information can contact the Roseville Police Department at (586) 775-2100.
