A suspect cut a screen to break into a home on Washtenaw in the early morning hours of July 6 and assaulted a 25-year-old woman, according to information police released on Nixle.com.

The suspect, described as a youthful-looking black man with light skin, about 5 feet 9 inches tall and 175 pounds, fled with some money and items from the house.

The woman had some minor injuries that were treated at a local hospital. She was released after treatment, according to police information.

At the time of the incident, the suspect was wearing jeans and a T-shirt.

Police are asking for anyone who may know anything about this incident to call (313) 343-2530 or Crime Stoppers at (800) SPEAK-UP.

“Residents are asked to keep a close watch over their neighborhood and to report any suspicious persons or vehicles to the police immediately,” Lt. Robert Hunter stated on the Nixle.com report.
