MACOMB TOWNSHIP/SHELBY TOWNSHIP — An 18-year-old Shelby Township woman has died after a car crash in Macomb Township just after midnight Friday, March 30.

The Macomb County Sheriff's Office responded to a two-vehicle crash at 12:15 a.m. March 30 at the intersection of 24 Mile Road and North Avenue. According to police, a green 2002 Ford Escape and a silver 2014 Chevrolet Cruze collided at the intersection.

The Ford Escape was traveling southbound on North Avenue and the Chevy Cruze was going eastbound on 24 Mile when the two vehicles crashed. The Sheriff's Office is still investigating and has not said who was at fault.

Haley Nardoni, 18, was the driver of the Cruze and was transported to a hospital, where she died from her injuries. There were two additional female passengers in the Cruze, both 16, who were also transported to the hospital and treated for injuries.

The 30-year-old driver of the Escape, who is from Chesterfield Township, was transported to the hospital for minor injuries.

According to police, drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash. All occupants of the vehicles, except a back-seat passenger in the Cruze, were wearing seatbelts.

Both roadways are open to traffic.
