First responders from St. Clair Shores were on the scene of a fatal accident on eastbound Interstate 94, at 12 Mile Road, at 5:51 a.m. July 18, according to Michigan State Police.
According to an MSP press release, a man was walking on the freeway, and “at approximately 5:55 a.m., information was dispatched that the subject had been struck by a car.”
Police believe the 46-year-old Roseville man ran from the westbound lanes of I-94 and then climbed over the median wall, running into eastbound traffic on I-94 before being struck by a 2015 Jeep Wrangler.
The driver of the Jeep, “a woman in her early 20s,” was uninjured said MSP Lt. Calvin Hart.
The Roseville resident was transported to St. John Hospital in Detroit and was pronounced dead at 6:04 a.m., according to police.
Hart said I-94 was closed for some time.
“It was closed for approximately three hours. It opened up around 8:30 a.m.,” he said.
Police stated in the press release that the Roseville resident’s identity would be released once his family was notified.
