November 7, 2012McMillin secures third term as state rep
ROCHESTER — Republican candidate Tom McMillin of Rochester Hills defeated Democrat challenger Joanna VanRaaphorst of Oakland Township on Nov. 6 to retain his seat as state representative for District 45, which includes the cities of Rochester, Rochester Hills, and part of Oakland Township.
McMillin was elected for a third term by taking 55.44 percent of the vote — or 25,971 votes overall— while his opponent, VanRaaphorst, took 43.56 percent, or 20,406 votes — according to unofficial results released by the Oakland County Clerk’s Office. Approximately 465 votes were cast for write-ins.
