MACOMB TOWNSHIP — A man was killed after being struck by a vehicle early Thursday morning in Macomb Township.

The Macomb County Sheriff's Office was called out to the area of 23 Mile Road and North Avenue at around 3 a.m. March 29. Deputies were made aware of a man that was walking in the roadway.

While trying to locate the man, deputies discovered a truck had just struck a pedestrian. A 2015 black Ford truck was traveling northbound on North Avenue when it hit the man just south of 23 Mile.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the truck, a 35-year-old Macomb Township man, was released pending further investigation. It does not appear that drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash at this time, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Deputies are continuing to investigate the crash and working to identify the man who was hit. The roadway is open.
