MOUNT CLEMENS — A Mount Clemens man was in the Macomb County Jail last week on a $10,000 bond after he was found in possession of stolen property following a rash of locker break-ins at a local Planet Fitness, Macomb County Sheriff’s Office officials reported.

According to a sheriff’s press release, deputies filed a report of larceny of personal property from the fitness center at 50 N. Groesbeck Highway in Mount Clemens on June 4.

One of the gym members reported that his lock had been cut from his locker, and his personal belongings had been stolen. His vehicle keys were also stolen, and items were taken from his vehicle, according to the report.

Deputies worked with management at Planet Fitness and were able to generate a suspect.

On June 7, authorities were informed that the alleged suspect — Carl Danielson, 39, of Mount Clemens — was inside the gym. Deputies arrived and located Danielson attempting to leave the facility. He was stopped and reportedly found to have bolt cutters and property belonging to another gym member in his possession. He was then taken to the Macomb County Jail.

Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Renee Yax stated in the report that Danielson was arraigned in the 41-B District Court in Clinton Township on June 8 on two counts of larceny in a building, a four-year felony; one count of possession of burglary tools, a 10-year felony; and one count of breaking into and entering a vehicle to steal property valued at less than $200, a 93-day misdemeanor.

Danielson did not have an attorney as of press time. He is scheduled to be back in court on June 20.
