Man found dead in Shelby Township

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — At approximately 1:30 p.m. May 19, Shelby Township police officers responded to a call in the area of Shelby and 24 Mile roads for a possibly deceased person.

Officers found a deceased man submerged in a shallow creek, and he was subsequently recovered from the water. The police later identified the person, but have not released his name.

Shelby Township Police Detective Lt. Jason Schmittler said May 23 that police do not suspect foul play in the incident. The incident remained under investigation as of press time.
