A woman told police that a man exposed himself to her as she walked near Wattles Elementary School, in the Big Beaver and Rochester roads area, at about 3:30 p.m. June 7.

In a June 7 email to parents and staff in the Troy School District, Kerry Birmingham, director of communications and strategic initiatives, states that a man in a gray four-door sedan on southbound Ellenboro Drive opened his window and asked the mother of a student for directions to McDonald’s. Ellenboro Drive is between Vanderpool and Trombley drives.

After she gave him directions, he asked her if she wanted to get in his car. The woman declined and walked away, according to the report.

The man then reportedly turned around northbound and pulled up next to her. The woman said she glanced over and saw that the suspect was exposing himself to her. He reportedly asked again if she wanted to get in the car. She again said no, then walked to the school, according to the report.  The man turned around again and sped away.

Troy police Sgt. Meghan Lehman said the witness described the man as Asian, in his mid-20s, with short hair and a medium complexion.

Based on the witness description, Lehman said, the suspect is possibly of east Asian, Chinese or Korean descent.

Birmingham said no students were in the area at the time. She noted that parents should talk with their children about what to do if they see a suspicious vehicle or are approached by strangers.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Troy police at (248) 524-3451 or  (248) 524-3477.
