From the May 29, 1967, edition of The Daily Sentinel newspaper: “Watching history being built into the very foundations of Shelby Township is township resident Terry Monicatti, age 4. Terry is watching workers install the township’s first water main on Dequindre Road. The main, to be installed and serviced by the Detroit Department of Water and Sewage, will bring water from Port Huron to most of the homes in the township. Supervisor Kirby Holmes said the line should be completed by November. The wells that now provide most Shelby homes with water will be a thing of the past by the time Terry is an adult.” (Photo by Don Polovich)
