This image features the first south-end fire station. The two-story house to the left of the station housed the city’s probation offices and the majority of city services in the early years. A second Station No. 2 for this part of Madison Heights was constructed in 1978 on John R Road, just north of the existing one. Upon completion of Phase 1 of the new south-end station, operations were moved from the old into the new, along with the probation offices. Demolition of the old station and probation offices was necessary to complete the Fire Complex.
