In October of 1960, East Detroit hosted a fire prevention parade with the local fire trucks driving down the road. This picture was snapped at what appears to be the northbound side of Gratiot Avenue and 10 Mile Road.
In the 1960s, the fire prevention parades in East Detroit drew participation from departments all throughout the county. The fire prevention program in October continues today, but it typically consists of visiting local elementary schools to give a presentation with puppets and a fire safety house.
