Looking Back: The McKinley Airport
Posted December 22, 2013
The McKinley Airport was located on Utica Road by 15 Mile Road. Started by dentist Dr. Otis McKinley in 1946, it eventually expanded to 120 acres. Pilots were not allowed to use the field in wet weather, as Dr. McKinley did not want the sod on the runways to be ruined. In 1950, a 31-plane hangar was built.
