DPD officers injured in crash on city’s east side

DETROIT — Two Detroit police officers were transported to the hospital following a late-night crash on the city’s east side Jan. 29.

The crash took place at around 10:20 p.m. at the intersection of Moross and Balfour roads, near Interstate 94. The officers were preparing to make a traffic stop when they were struck broadside by another vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle that hit the police cruiser was not hurt and remained at the scene, cooperating with police. No charges will be filed against the other driver, as it was deemed an accident.

Both officers were taken to the hospital and were last reported in stable condition. Their injuries were described as not life threatening, and they were released from the hospital.
