HARPER WOODS — Five student teachers from Michigan State University are digging into the work of helping Harper Woods Secondary School students learn and grow this year.
The college students, Alexandra Beels, Kelly Herberholz, Brian Antioch, Robin Moore and Lauren Nixon, are seeking teaching certification in areas of math and science.
They will spend the year in the classrooms in Harper Woods before moving on with the hopes of finding a permanent position with a district and their own classrooms.
The student teachers said they believe the experience in Harper Woods will prepare them for whatever school district they end up teaching in.
“I am confident we will all be successful here in Harper Woods,” Herberholz said.
