MACOMB COUNTY — Officials with Macomb Community Action, or MCA, are seeking participants in their upcoming 28th annual Walk for Warmth fundraiser.

Registrations are now being accepted for the Saturday, March 3, event at Macomb Mall in Roseville.

Walk for Warmth raises funds to assist low-income Macomb County residents with heat-related emergencies like paying utility bills or replacing a broken furnace. Officials with the organization reported in a recent press release that since it began, the event has raised over $737,000 to help ensure that local families can stay warm in their homes throughout the winter.

“It is always a heartwarming experience to help warm the homes of those in need, and there are thousands of Macomb (County) residents who need such support each winter,” said Ernest Cawvey, director of MCA. “Without partners like Macomb Mall, our financial and in-kind sponsors, and compassionate community members, this event would not be what it is today.”

On the day of the event, check-in begins at 8 a.m. inside the mall at the Dick’s Sporting Goods entrance. New to the event this year is an outdoor 1-mile race administered by Hanson’s Race Management. Runners can choose to be timed and compete for awards. The indoor 5K walk and the outdoor race will both start at 9 a.m.

The registration fee is $25 per participant. To register for the event or to make a donation, visit mca.macombgov.org. Participants can enter the coupon code “W4W2018” at checkout to access the special offer.

Sponsorships are also available beginning at $500 and going up to $10,000. To become a sponsor, visit Macomb Community Action’s website or call (586) 469-6232.
