TROY — Changes may be coming to some of Troy’s programming aimed at senior citizens, but some seniors are saying that far more is needed far sooner.

ST. CLAIR SHORES — The St. Clair Shores Senior Activity Center gained 450 members since this time last year, according to Senior Center Coordinator Matthew Hubinsky.

SOUTHFIELD — The City Council approved funds through the Oakland County Senior Centers Matching Grant Program Jan. 23.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — Longtime Shelby Township resident and Korean War veteran William B. Harrell, 91, was the recipient of an Honor Flight in November to visit the national war memorials in Washington, D.C.

METRO DETROIT — Seniors from across the state will go head-to-head in the 2023 Michigan Senior Olympics Winter Games, which will be held mainly throughout March and April at various locations throughout Oakland County.

MOUNT CLEMENS — On Oct. 25, Macomb County officials welcomed three guests of honor at its Department of Roads and COMTEC Center in Mount Clemens.

METRO DETROIT — Those age 50 and older are racking ’em up more and more as billiards gain popularity among the age group.

MADISON HEIGHTS — For more than 20 years, a program at the Active Adult Center in Madison Heights has been helping people complete their taxes. Last year, four volunteers completed returns for more than 100 clients. In years prior, up to seven completed returns for 300-400 clients.
