FARMINGTON/FARMINGTON HILLS — Residents in the Farmington Press’ coverage area recently voted for candidates running for elected offices and a Farmington Public School District proposal in the Nov. 8 general election.

MACOMB COUNTY — Eastpointe City Councilwoman Sarah Lucido will continue serving the public as an elected official, but this time in a different role.

GREATER WEST BLOOMFIELD — Residents in the West Bloomfield Beacon’s coverage area recently cast their votes for local candidates running for elected offices.

OAKLAND TOWNSHIP — Voters of Oakland Township passed the renewal of a township police millage Nov. 8.

ROCHESTER/ROCHESTER HILLS/OAKLAND TOWNSHIP — Incumbent Jessica Gupta and newcomer Carol Beth Litkouhi outpaced challengers Eddie Hillery and Dennis Talluto for two six-year seats on the Rochester Community Schools Board of Education.

GROSSE POINTES — State Rep. Joseph Tate, D-Detroit — who represents Grosse Pointe City, Grosse Pointe Farms and Grosse Pointe Park for the 2nd District — will continue to represent the Pointes when he’s sworn into office in his new district in January.

GROSSE POINTES — Although voters can now cast absentee ballots without needing to provide an excuse, that didn’t keep scores of voters from showing up on Election Day Nov. 8 in the Grosse Pointes.

GROSSE POINTE PARK — Grosse Pointe Park voters overwhelmingly supported a new 2.5-mill, 10-year levy for water and sewer infrastructure repairs and improvements on the Nov. 8 ballot.

GROSSE POINTES — A hotly contested race for the Grosse Pointe Board of Education that saw 10 candidates vying for three seats resulted in the defeat of two incumbents in favor of three newcomers, all of whom will serve four-year terms.

BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP — Voters in Bloomfield Township passed two millage proposals Nov. 8 — a millage renewal for the township’s safety path program and a millage renewal, with an increase, for senior services.

Voter’s in the Eagle’s coverage area turned out at the polls Nov. 8 to approve several tax proposals and village council races.

METRO DETROIT — The third time was apparently the charm for John James.   The Republican business owner from Farmington Hills defeated Democrat Carl Marlinga, a former Macomb County prosecutor and Circuit Court judge, by less than 0.

TROY — Troy residents made their voices heard Nov. 8 as they went out to the polls and voted on a number of elected positions and ballot measures from the national to local level.

METRO DETROIT — Residents in Oakland and Macomb counties voted to approve a new millage and opt into an agreement with the Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation as a whole instead of on a community-by-community basis. 

CENTER LINE/WARREN/STERLING HEIGHTS —  As residents came out to the polls Nov. 8 on Election Day, one of their civic duties was to vote in local school board elections. In those races, it was the incumbents who garnered enough votes to be reelected to their Board of Education seats.

OAKLAND TOWNSHIP — Voters of Oakland Township passed the renewal of a township police millage Nov. 8.

METRO DETROIT — As of the morning of Nov. 9, media reports declared incumbent Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer as the winner in the gubernatorial race, defeating Republican challenger Tudor Dixon. In Macomb County alone, unofficial results of all precincts showed Whitmer getting 51.8% of the vote compared to Dixon’s 46.6%.

OAKLAND COUNTY — Five candidates were competing for three six-year terms on the Lamphere Board of Education in the general election Nov. 8.  Paul Cavanaugh came in first with 22.54% (2,367 votes), followed by Ryan McCann at 21.15% (2,221 votes) and Anthony Austin at 19.
