HARRISON TOWNSHIP — Township residents now have a new way to access information about their community, including officials’ phone numbers, meeting minutes and even the current weather conditions.

The township’s official Web site, located at www.harrison-township.org, officially went online March 8 and became publicly accessible March 10, said township financial director/controller Melissa Marsh.

The site, which is still under construction, eventually will offer visitors the chance to look up assessing information, download permit applications and pay property taxes and utility bills online.

Already, the site provides access to information on the township’s government, law enforcement agencies and various departments, as well as selected sets of meeting minutes and agendas.

The site’s look is a combination of two submissions from Debra Schimid’s Web design class at the Pankow Vocational-Technical Center. Marsh and Deputy Clerk Jan Jorgensen selected designs by juniors Samantha Lord and Dan Merritt and seniors Kaitie McPhee, Tim Sexton and Steve Swensen, who were recognized for their accomplishment at the March 8 board meeting.

Swensen, Merritt and Lords are students at L’Anse Creuse North High School, while Sexton goes to Richmond High School and McPhee attends L’Anse Creuse High School.
