BEVERLY HILLS — Beverly Hills residents should have received their 2004 village tax bills, which span from July 1, 2004, to June 30, 2005, by now and they can pay them online with a credit card.
“We’ve had enough interest in this program that we decided to give it a try,” said Beverly Hills Village Manager Brian Murphy.
The program is being offered to all of the municipalities within Oakland County, but not everyone has opted to try it out, according to Beverly Hills Village Treasurer Peggy Linkswiler.
“Residents must go to www.paylocaltaxes.com, provide a parcel identification number or address, as well as the code that appears on the tax bill,” said Linkswiler. “Village residents who don’t have their code number will be charged a $2.50 fee or they can call the village offices and we will look it up for them,” she said.
Linkswiler also said there is a convenience fee for this new service of about 2 percent, based on the amount of each resident’s individual taxes.
Although the county Web site was not quite yet up and running at press time, Linkswiler said it should be ready by mid to late July.
The village also offers its residents the option of paying their water bills through direct debit so that it will automatically be deducted from a checking or savings account.
“We began that program late last fall,” said Linkswiler. “Residents can pick up a water department enrollment form for this at the Beverly Hills Village Offices or by visiting www.villagebeverlyhills.com,” she said.
Forms can take between 30 and 60 days to process.
