Starting Aug. 5, a new online registration system for the Troy School District’s Community Education program will be available.
“We have had online registration before,” said Diana O’Donnell, Community Education enrichment supervisor. “This one is much more user-friendly. It makes all the difference in the world.”
New enrichment programs offered this year include tennis, fencing, singles classes and synchronized swimming classes, O’Donnell said. That’s in addition to a large assortment of classes available, including computer instruction, arts and crafts, English as a second language and much more.
“We offer over 100 enrichment classes,” O’Donnell said. Fall Troy Community Education classes begin the week of Sept. 13.
The new online registration system lets prospective students browse for classes, register online, confirm registrations, confirm class schedules for an entire family, set up payment accounts and view a Troy Continuing Education staff list.
The online course catalog gives information about adult academic programs, driver education, adult and youth enrichment programs, online Internet and Web page design and programming classes, preschool programs and school-age child care programs.
Online registration receives a priority before mail-in, fax, walk-in, or telephone registration, and instantly reserves a class seat. Registration may be done online at any time during the day or night. Class payment is available online with a credit card.
Robert Stromayer, Troy School District director of Continuing Education, said, “The new online service will allow automatic payments for recurring programs like child care.”
Several Continuing Education childcare programs have been expanded this year. Pat Snider, the youth services director, said a new preschool program for 4-year-olds will be held five days a week, and full-day educational child care programs have been added.
Troy Continuing Education is based at the Niles Center, located at 201 Square Lake Road. Online registration and more information can be found at www.troyceonline.com or by calling (248) 823-5100.
