TROY — Get the dish on deals when Troy Restaurant Week returns Aug. 20-25.

This summer’s lineup features 25 restaurants, including the recently opened Eddie V’s Prime Seafood and Granite City Food & Brewery, returning after a number of years.

“Restaurants get the opportunity to flex their creative muscle and offer items not featured on the regular menu,” said Jessica Hruska, director of communication for the Troy Chamber of Commerce, which spearheads the event. Troy Restaurant Week is sponsored by InTouch Credit Union.

“It gives the restaurants publicity and connects the community to places they haven’t tried yet,” Hruska said. “People can try appetizers, desserts and seasonal features not always on the menu.”

Lance Koch, general manager of Granite City Food & Brewery, said the restaurant decided to participate to support the Troy Chamber of Commerce and the great job it has done promoting local businesses and embracing various social media platforms.

“Granite City is pretty thrilled to be part of the chamber,” he said.

Koch said they asked Troy Chamber of Commerce CEO and President Ara Topouzian for permission to name a new craft lager beer after him; The Ara, a small-batch brew tequila-infused lager, will be available for sample and purchase during Restaurant Week.

Koch said the aim is that The Ara will remind patrons that the restaurant serves fresh-brewed beer and brews different drafts at different times.

“Fresh beer tastes better,” he said. “We chose Restaurant Week to craft a fresh-beer taste and create a beer as a tribute to the Troy chamber.”

He noted that The Ara pairs well with a special dish that will be offered during Restaurant Week, a tropical citrus salad.

The event’s fixed prices for selected menu options feature three courses in most cases and range from $15 to $45. Reservations are accepted at most restaurants. Some restaurants offer both lunch and dinner options for the event. People can check out menus and make reservations at www.troyrestaurantweek.com.

Diners can snap a photo of themselves enjoying their dining experience during Troy Restaurant Week in the “Oh Snap, It’s Troy Restaurant Week!” contest and submit the photo on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter with the hashtag #OhSnap TRW17 for a chance to win a $50 gift card to one of the participating restaurants. One gift card will be awarded each day.
