EASTPOINTE/ROSEVILLE — The Eastpointe-Roseville Chamber of Commerce will host its 26th annual Deck the Halls Christmas Auction at Eastpointe Manor, 24611 Gratiot Ave., at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 9.

The silent auction will begin at 5:30 p.m. and will lead to a live auction at 6:30 p.m. with auctioneer Doug Dalton.

Admission costs $35 or $325 for a full table of 10. Tickets must be purchased in advance. There will be no sales at the door.

Admission includes a pasta station, hot hors d’oeuvres, desserts, soft drinks and an open bar.

Dalton has been an auctioneer for 35 years and is his ninth year being the live auctioneer for the Christmas auction.

“It’s a big room with a lot of people, which is nice. The crowd always seems to be excited about the items. (The chamber) picks out things that appeal to a lot of different people. It makes my job easier. The more bidders, the better,” he said.

Dalton said he knows some of the items at the auction are a “real bargain,” and he believes people do some Christmas shopping at the auction.

“The Eastpointe-Roseville Chamber of Commerce is an important part of the Eastpointe-Roseville community in supporting the businesses, and there are a number of things the chamber can do. It’s an important entity and it needs to be supported,” said Dalton.

Chamber Executive Director Linda Weishaupt said the auction items are “a variety of everything.”

“We have things as little as a coffee and wine basket all the way up to a golfing at the Grand Hotel (on) Mackinac Island (package),” she said. “You can do your Christmas shopping because we have a little bit of everything.”

Weishaupt said “participation from Eastpointe and Roseville businesses have helped” with the auction items.

“This is also a great way to take your employees out for a Christmas outing,” said Weishaupt.

As of Oct. 11, Weishaupt said over half of the tickets had been sold.

The money raised at the auction will go to the community.

“All the money goes back into the community; we donated to the Eastpointe Gratiot Cruise, the Rosefest, scholarship foundations for the high schools in both cities — there’s a long list of organizations that we have donated our funds to,” she said.
