Most mothers of three are used to doing a little heavy lifting. For Debbie Hudson, 47, of Lake Orion, though, carrying the load extends to competitive weightlifting and raising more than 140 pounds over her head.

The 4th annual Shane Griffin Memorial Run will take place Aug. 13 at Stony Creek Metropark in Shelby Township.The 5K race, which is scheduled to start at 6:45 p.m. at Eastwood Beach, is open to all runners.

Parks squad gets offensive in tourney
Home is where the hits are. At least that was the case for the Grosse Pointe Park 10- and 11-year-old baseball team, as an offensive explosion carried the squad to the Michigan Little League State Tournament title Aug. 2 at Elworthy Field.
