Offense

Key player: Mike Rossman, senior, receiver

Two years ago, Tim Sagert was the Bishop Foley offensive coordinator and helped his squad lead its division in total offense. Now in his first season as head coach, Sagert wants to take the offense back to that level, and he believes Rossman can help him do just that.

“He’s a guy with great speed that is going to be all over the field,” Sagert said. “We’re relatively young offensively, so if he can lead the way and take some pressure off some other guys, that is going to be very key.”

Special teams

Key player: Matt Morrow, senior, kicker

If there’s a near sure thing for the Ventures, Morrow is it. Sagert said his senior kicker can consistently reach the end zone on kickoffs and is very accurate on field goals anywhere from 45 yards and in.

“He’s an advantage we are going to try and maximize,” Sagert said.

Coach’s outlook

When asked about the season and what he wants to accomplish, Sagert eventually talked about division titles, playoff appearances and the need to win games. First, however, he focused on fun and excitement.

“We want people to have fun watching us play because of our style,” he said. “We’re going to be aggressive. We’re going to play with excitement. If we do that, our goals of winning the division, playing in the Prep Bowl and getting back to the playoffs will be realized.”
