Berkley High volleyball keeps building program and tradition

BERKLEY — Berkley High’s Brittany Lines has now officially seen it from both ends.

The incoming senior remembers heading to the Berkley volleyball camp wide-eyed and looking to improve the summer before entering high school.

Now, Lines is returning the favor, along with seniors Lindsey Lubanski, Ali Colouthier and Lauren Longan.

The foursome joined the Berkley coaching staff for a volleyball camp June 22-25 at Berkley.

The camp welcomed girls from sixth- through 10th-grade.

Seventh-grader Robyn Frye said her favorite part was all the different games.

“They’re fun and teach you how to play,” she said.

“It’s a lot of work though, too,” classmate Tatum Kenrick added.

Lines said the camp went well, and the girls responded positively to the instruction.

“I think it’s good that they (young players) come to this, because they can see what we have to do as seniors coming into the season to be as good as we are,” she added.

Tye and Longan said it’s also good for them to be there with the season just a few months away.

“It’s always a good refresher for them,” the coach said. “They get excited to get their hands on the ball. Just giving them a heads-up on the season is always
