WARREN — Warren police said a 52-year-old woman died of her injuries after she was struck by an SUV on Eight Mile Road at about 11:15 p.m. on Nov. 6.
According to Lt. Louis Galasso of the Warren Police Traffic Division, Myra Ann Fitzgerald of Warren was struck by the SUV as it traveled westbound on Eight Mile near Groesbeck.
Witnesses reportedly told investigators that Fitzgerald was attempting to walk north across Eight Mile when she was struck by the SUV, driven by a 38-year-old Livonia man. Police said the section of Eight Mile where Fitzgerald was struck was dimly lit at the time and that neither alcohol nor speed appeared to be a factor in the accident.
“It appears to be an unfortunate accident that this lady was tragically struck by a vehicle and later succumbed to her injuries,” Warren Police Commissioner Bill Dwyer said. “She lived a short distance away from the scene. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family.”
After the accident Fitzgerald was transported to the Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Warren where she was pronounced dead as a result of her injuries.
