OAKLAND COUNTY — The Health Division will offer its fifth H1N1 flu vaccine clinic for Oakland County residents.
The session, which will run 2-8 p.m. Nov. 12, will be the second clinic held at The Palace of Auburn Hills, 6 Championship Drive. Gates to The Palace will open at 1 p.m., and doors will open at 2 p.m.
“We would like to thank The Palace of Auburn Hills for their generous donation of this facility for such an important event,” said Kathy Forzley, manager/health officer for the Oakland County Health Division.
Oakland County Health Division nurses vaccinated more than 10,600 individuals at the first clinic at The Palace on Nov. 5. A Health Division nurse administered the vaccine once every three seconds.
Forzley said the county wants only those in the target population for Oakland County to visit the clinic and get vaccinated because the initial supply of H1N1 vaccine is limited.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has identified the target population as those who are at greatest risk for severe disease: pregnant women, children and young adults ages 6 months to 24 years, caregivers for children under 6 months of age, adults ages 25-64 with underlying medical conditions, and health care workers and emergency medical services workers.
Those who have questions about the clinic are asked to contact the Oakland County Health Division Nurse on Call at (800) 848-5533. The Oakland County Health Department asks the public not to contact The Palace directly.
