Detroit Pistons dance team, Automotion, holds team tryout July 28

Automotion, the Detroit Pistons dance team, will be hosting auditions for the 2008-09 season at 3:30 p.m. July 28 at The Palace of Auburn Hills.

Selected finalists will be asked to return July 29 for interviews and final dance rounds.

Applicants are encouraged to attend a pre-audition clinic from 5:30-8 p.m. July 21 at The Palace.

      

Interested dancers must be 19 or older by Sept. 1 and are required to show proof of age along with their registration. There is a $25 registration fee, which includes auditions, the pre-audition clinic and a ticket to a select Pistons game during the 2008-09 season.  For those who plan to attend the pre-audition clinic, the registration fee will be at a discounted price.

At the tryout, the audition staff will provide choreography to be performed. Dancers are asked to wear dance tops, shorts and tights. Candidates are also encouraged to bring a business/entertainment résumé and must have a strong work ethic, as well as strong business and communication skills as a complement to their dancing abilities.

Automotion dancers serve as ambassadors to the Pistons and represent the organization on and off the court. Team members are required to dance during every Pistons home game and appear throughout the year at various team and charity functions. A flexible schedule is a must for selected dancers.
