Know before you go
The ins and outs of the PGA Championship at Oakland Hills
Before you head off to see some of the greatest golfers in the world at the 90th PGA Championship Aug. 4-10 at Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Township, take note of a few of the must-knows.
The gates open at 7 a.m. during the week of the tournament. Patrons are asked to park at the Pontiac Silverdome (located at 1200 Featherstone road), where a provided shuttle will take fans to the course.
Leave your cell phone, beverages, camera and food in the car, because they’re not allowed on the course during tournament play Aug. 7-10. Cameras are allowed during practice rounds Aug. 4-6.
If you plan on bringing your own chair, make sure it’s one with no arms.
Concession areas will accept cash only. Merchandise, however, may be purchased with credit cards and ATMs are available on the course.
As of Aug. 1, tickets were still available, but tickets purchased via the PGA Web site have to be picked up at will call, which is located at the main spectator entrance.
