Gun found at Center Line High School

CENTER LINE — A Center Line High School student is currently in the Macomb County Youth Home after police discovered a gun in his locker May 7.

Center Line Public Safety Interim Director Nicholas Chakur said another student told his father that the student might have a gun, so the parent reportedly informed a school official.

A police search occurred, and the .25-caliber pistol was found in the locker. The school was on lockdown during the search. The gun wasn’t loaded, and nobody was hurt.

Chakur said the gun had no magazine or ammunition nor did it have any handgrips.

“You could hardly pull the slide back,” Chakur said.

Charges are expected for the student as police continue to investigate the situation.

“The detectives are working on the charges right now,” Chakur said.
