SHELBY TOWNSHIP — Police are looking for two men in connection with an armed robbery Oct. 13 at a collision shop in the 8100 block of Millis Road near Van Dyke Avenue.
Police Chief Robert Leman said two masked men came into the shop, owned by a 22-year-old Sterling Heights man, a 22-year-old Auburn Hills woman and a 20-year-old Washington Township man, around 7:30 p.m. and yelled for everyone to get down on the floor. The two allegedly punched and kicked the customers and owners that were out in the store, taking an Apple iPhone from one customer.
The pair then busted into a back office where one owner was hiding “and took him down to the floor,” Leman said, adding that a customer saw that one suspect had a gun. “They (also) did take a gun from one of the victims.”
The suspects are described as two 20-year-old males, one white with crooked teeth and one black. A witness saw the two drive away in a newer, silver Chrysler minivan.
Leman said anyone who sees suspects matching the description should call police.
“They should be considered armed and dangerous,” he said.
But, he said, he doesn’t think the suspects had done this before.
“Both owners said … both of the guys were very nervous, not like professionals,” he said.
